“More Choices, More Chances: Independent Living and Young Disabled People”

A free, half-day conference organised by Glasgow’s leading disabled people’s organisations, Glasgow Disability Alliance and Glasgow Centre for Inclusive Living, will launch a project promoting independent living for young disabled people.

Funded by the Equality and Human Rights Commission, ‘Rights to Reality’ will give young disabled people more choices and greater control over their lives through building knowledge, skills and confidence to access independent living and fulfil their potential. 
 
The event aims: 
·       to increase awareness of the barriers facing young disabled people in achieving independent living
·       to promote independent living as a route to overcome these barriers through greater choice and control
·       to promote and build partnership working and joined up services so that young disabled people have a greater chance of reaching their full potential
 
 
Who should attend: those with responsibility for planning or delivering services to young disabled people and those interested in improving the lives of young disabled people and in working in partnership with GDA and GCIL

When
: Tuesday 20th April from 10am to 12.30. This will be followed by an Elections Hustings from 1.45 to 3.45pm and guest are welcome to stay for this session.

Working Together Sessions will consider how we can work together to achieve independent living for young disabled people

The event is free and open to all individuals within partner agencies and organisations interested in finding out about this project and working with GDA & GCIL towards achieving human rights and independent living for young disabled people. Please contact us to book a place.
