"East Dunbartonshire Council for Voluntary Service exists to represent and support the voluntary sector, to assist organisations in coming together for common purposes, and to enable local people to gain access to decision making processes which affect their communities. It will present common policies and concerns of local voluntary organisations and develop new ways of responding to need in partnership with other agencies and statutory bodies concerned with social and economic regeneration."
East Dunbartonshire Council for Voluntary Services primary aim is to provide support to voluntary organisations and community groups and assist them to develop their services or activities in the best way possible.
Our staff team will respond positively to all requests for assistance and will help with all aspects of running the organisation.
East Dunbartonshire provides the following services:
- Running training courses
- Keeping in touch with national agendas
- Developing networks
- Provision of practical services
- Advice and information
- Producing publication
- Creating new groups in response to local issues and need
- Strengthening the capacity of existing organisation
- Supporting internal policy development and good practice
- Facilitating access to funding
- Helping to develop effective and mutually beneficial relationships between the sector and key public agencies.
- Ensuring sector representation
A key aim of the CVS is to present the common policies and concerns of voluntary organisations, to develop new ways of responding to need in partnership with statutory and other health, social work, education, housing, employment, environmental and recreation agencies and any others concerned with the social and economic regeneration of the area. CVS has a ‘facilitating’ or enabling role to ensure that voluntary organisations contribute to and influence local, regional and national planning and strategic development that includes:
- Act as a vital bridge between the statutory sector and local voluntary organisations
- Anticipate the needs of their own area, and work in partnership to identify effective ways of meeting them
- Provide structures and forums to facilitate gathering of the views of the local voluntary sector to statutory agencies, and to co-ordinate local responses
- Represent the sector at forums and consultation meetings when appropriate
