A competition has been launched to reward and recognise environmental innovation.
The Rushlight Awards are open to community groups that have developed a technology or process that “will have a significantly beneficial impact on the environment”.
Backed by a host of household names including the Department of Energy and Climate Change, the Carbon Trust, the Environment Agency and the Technology Strategy Board, the competition aims to highlight the year’s cleantech movers and shakers.
Prizes are on offer across 30 different categories spanning energy efficiency, clean fuels, environmental management and waste reduction. There is also a reward up for grabs for one Rushlight Awards overall champion.
For the first time ever, competition organisers are in the process of putting together a cash prize pool for winning entries. They have also promised a whole host of free consultancy and other support for successful organisations.
Entries must be submitted by 31 October, with the big winners set to be revealed at a gala awards ceremony to be held in London on 26 January 2011.
The contest is free to enter for charities, not-for-profit organisations and community groups. See the Rushlight website for me details- www.rushlightawards.co.uk
