General: Friday 26th March 2010. 10.30am to 3pm, with lunch provided.

Tuesday 27th April 2010. 10:30 to 3pm, with lunch provided.

Thursday 25th November 2010. 10:30 to 3pm, with lunch provided.

Aims: aimed at treasurers of small charities, people who are considering being treasurers, and other trustees/committee members who might have to look after the money because no-one else can be found to do it.

Content:

  • Looking after other people's money (Legal requirements and governance)
  • Writing everything down (Bookkeeping)
  • Keeping an eye on everything (Budgeting and monitoring)
  • Telling the world what you are doing (Annual report and accounts, and OSCR's requirements)"

A unique selling point would be that anyone who has attended the course would be entitled to have, at a mutually convenient later date and time, up to one hour of mentoring from me on the specific issues affecting their charity.

Trainer(s): Dr Neil Dickson. Neil has many years experience in training delivery as a Lecturer in Mathematics at Glasgow University and as a Board member and Treasurer for a number of Charities. Neil is a qualified Independent Financial Examiner for Charity accounts. Neil also works as a freelance consultant offering advice on financial management within the voluntary sector.

Cost: £50 per place. There will be some reduced cost and free places available for members.
